For the Mid – Autumn festival that celebrates the new moon, we will learn about the man on the moon and the moon princess then create them with edible traditional Chinese sweets. Icicle, Popsicle Christmas Creatures - Saturday 2 December, 10:30 - 11:15am

Teens Club: Mid-Autumn Festival:
 
Making Mooncakes - Saturday 7 October, 10.30am-1pm (12-14 year-olds)

The Mid-Autumn festival marks the end of the autumn harvest and the full moon in late September/early October in Chinese and Vietnamese culture. To celebrate, we will make mooncakes - a traditional Chinese delicacy - and learn about the harvest and lunar cycles. This event has been organised in association with Asia Market. Old Meets New: Architectural Challenge - Saturday 14 October, 10.30am-1pm (12-17 year-olds)

As part of this year's Open House Dublin and meet our Head of Collections, Jessica Baldwin who will relate the story of the conversion of our 18th-century clock tower building into one of Dublin's most visited tourist attractions. Afterwards, take on a challenge and reimagining another Dublin landmark for a new purpose, with artist Anna-Kadzik Bartoszewska. Limited to 15 teens per session. Free, booking essential. Light, Shadow and Shade Workshop - Sunday 15 October, 1.15 – 4.15pm 


'In art there is no need for colour. Give me a crayon and I will 'paint' your portrait'

In his series of prints, Disasters of War, Goya abandons colour believing that light, shade and shadow provide for a more direct expression of the truth.  Join artist Lorraine Lawlor and create your own artistic responses to the exhibition, exploring techniques like chiaroscuro (light and dark), linear hatching and crosshatching to achieve dramatic black and white effects in your images. Portrait Workshop - Sunday 12 November, 12.30 – 4.00pm

Francisco Goya is regarded as an outstanding portrait painter with the exceptional ability to portray his models beyond their physical appearances. In this workshop we will look closely at Goya’s pencil and charcoal drawings. Using these materials, we will learn how to produce a head and shoulders portrait. Artist, Roxana Manouchehri, will also compare and contrast the traditions of Western, Middle Eastern and East-Asian portraits. Suitable for beginners. Pottery WorkshoPottery Workshop - Sunday 3 December, 1.30 – 4pm

Why not surprise someone this Christmas with a handmade gift? Join artist Christien van Bussel and create your own decorative box and cover. - Please note, all our workshops are suitable for beginners unless otherwise advertised. 
- Small amendments might be done to the workshop due to unforeseen circumstances and we would appreciate your understanding

Please note, we require 7 days' notice of a cancellation; otherwise the full workshop fee must be paid. Credit card details are thus required in order to guarantee your place in the workshop and we will be in touch shortly to request these.
 

*Silk Worm Club & Chester Beatty's Creative Lab Club for Teens Cancellation Policy

Please be aware that we require a minimum 72 hours' notice of a cancellation if possible. These workshops take time and resources to prepare and we always have an extensive waiting list for each workshop. Therefore if you cannot attend and we do not hear from you we may be unable to reserve a place for your child in future workshops.
