One of the treasures of Chester Beatty’s collection is the Coëtivy Hours, a prayer-book originally commissioned in Paris around 1443-45 by Prigent de Coëtivy, on the occasion of his marriage to Marie de Raiz. It was later acquired by Edith Beatty as a gift for her husband and of the 148 miniatures in this manuscript, 47 were produced to illustrate the Suffrages (prayers dedicated to martyrs and other saints). The new catalogue describes this miniature masterpiece in detail with many images of the folios and their margins.
