Note for large groups/language schools visiting the Library

While we welcome large groups to our exhibitions, we would greatly appreciate if you would notify us of your visit beforehand. In the busy summer months, the galleries can get quite crowded and prior notification would assist us in making the visit an enjoyable one for all our visitors. All large groups MUST be accompanied by group leaders at all times. Public tours are available on Wednesdays at 1pm and Sundays at 3pm + 4pm. These are specifically for the general public. It is advisable to book a private tour for groups of more than five people.

Guided tours must be booked in writing; bookings are not taken over the phone.
The Chester Beatty Library requires three weeks advance notification in order to book guides, as they are volunteers.
Guided tours are limited to fifteen people maximum per tour e.g. school groups of thirty can be split into two groups of fifteen.
Groups must be supervised in the Chester Beatty Library and Dublin Castle grounds at all times. This is to comply with our Child Protection Policy.
Special note for schools: the Library does not provide space for eating lunches. There is a café within the museum for the general public.
On your arrival to the Library, please announce your group at the reception desk. Your guide will meet you there to commence the tour.

Charges

Tours for primary and post-primary school groups are free.
Adult groups are charged €3.00 per head.
OAPs, adult education and third-level groups are charged €2.00 per head.
Evening/private events are charged €5.00 per head.

Payment for tours can be made through our gift shop.

Please notify Education Services prior to your arrival if you would like to be issued a receipt.

Cancellations

To cancel a booking, please contact the Library by phone.

A fee of €30.00 will be charged for failure to give twenty-four hours' advance notice of cancellations.
