The Turkish Collection
The Turkish Collection consists of just over 160 manuscripts, making it the smallest of the Islamic collections. Nevertheless, it too is extremely important.
Patronage of the arts, including the arts of the book, on behalf of the Ottoman sultans of Turkey peaked in the sixteenth century.
The Turkish Collection includes some of the greatest manuscripts produced in this period, such as a rare, illustrated volume of The Life of the Prophet Muhammad and an illustrated History of Suleyman the Magnificent.
